Love card..
My boss asked me to make a Valentines Day card for his girlfriend. My boss is a great guy, so I knew if I made him a card and he didn't like it.....he wasn't gonna fire me....well at least I didn't think he would! I made him a CD Calendar case calendar for his girlfriend for Christmas (you can see it in this post if you are interested) and she loved it, so I guess he figured he was good to go!
This is the card I came up with. I was pleased with it actually and I was trying to go for a nice Valentines card, but one that did not necessarily use the standard valentine colours.
On my Valentines Day, I was with my Mom in Toronto watching Jersey Boys. I know I already posted my comments on Jersey Boys, but I found a You Tube video of them singing that I had to share with you. When they come out and all sing together, the dark haired fella - he plays Frankie Valli...the two fellas in the middle were different cast members from the day I was there, but the fella on the end was the same one. I cannot say enough about this show, it's AWESOME.
Enjoy the video!

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Challenge Blog
This week our challenge over at the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Challenge Blog, was to make a monochromatic shades of pink Christmas card. It was a challenge for sure! Pinks are not that common for a Christmas card, so it was a personal challenge for me. I used some embossing folders for texture, some Stickles for some sparkle (I love Stickles!), some pink gingham ribbon, some pink dew drops, some liquid applique for puffiness, and some bling I have had for so long now I don't even remember where I got it from!
I hope you like it,

Spicy...
Every once in a while a commercial will come along that just makes me laugh out loud. This is one of those commercials. It just hit my funny bone!
I was asked to make a card for a friend of mine for her daughters 19th birthday. It's kind of fun now that people know I make cards. They ask me to make one, they give me some colours or things the person likes and then give me creative freedom! I used the Hanna Stamps set with the shopping girl, because her daughter likes to shop (what 19 year old doesn't?) She also loves purple, so I chose that colour. I did some paper piecing with the bags and the dress.

Another year has passed......
It is so hard to believe that 2 years have passed since my friend Janet passed away. I regret that we did not take pictures of ourselves together. The only pictures I have of her are the ones she sent me when she was at Nascar. I still think of her every day and wish she was here so I could talk to her. Actually, I still talk to her, but I wish she was physically here to answer me. She was a wonderful woman and I miss her like crazy. Every time I see her kids they look more and more like her and that makes me happy in one sense, that I still see her when I look at them, but oh so sad in the other sense that they do not have their mom with them. My suggestions for you today....tell your friends just how much they mean to you......take some time and take some pictures of the both of you together, you will thank yourself later that you did. I love you JD and miss you like crazy. Chow for now Jacqui

Go Canada Go
OH MY GOSH - THEY DID IT!!!!!!! WAY TO GO SCOTT AND TESSA (this was posted early this morning....I did my post, scheduled it for this morning...then went to bed....waking up at 11:25 so I could watch them!)
Wow, I have been watching the Ice Dancing competition on the Olympics. I'm sure you are all aware that Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue are from Ilderton and London respectively. Ilderton is close to my home town of Parkhill. It's funny how you don't personally know people, but then the Olympics come along and there is this huge sense of community and you feel like they are your best friends or your kids when they are in the competition. How many times did you wince when you saw our skiers fall or our skeleton racers banging against the ice walls as they were jetting down the ice track at 128+ miles an hour? Was anyone like me and shed a tear when Scott and Tessa skated the first compulsory dance on Friday night? And then last night when they did amazingly well? They look awesome together. They are like one person when they skate, totally in synch with each other. It is so nice to drive through Ilderton and see all the banners and posters and signs in windows and on doors showing the support for these two great skaters.
My daughter found this great video of them skating. I'm not sure where it is from, but it shows how much fun they have skating together.
Didn't they look like they were having fun?
I got word today that the girl who is getting married, the one I made all the bridal shower cards for, loved her cards. I guess the shower was all done in green and black, she was dressed in green and black as well, so my cards fit right in! This is the one I made for her mom to give to her. I apologize that the picture is a little blurry, but it's been given to her so I can't retake the photo!

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Challenge Blog
I have been given this great opportunity to be a member of the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long design team!!! Each week we get a challenge and by the end of the year we will have a whole mess of Christmas cards made!!!!!
This week the challenge was to make a card with 2 layers, 3 buttons and glitter.
I went with the classic white on white card, adding in dry embossing for some texture. I threw in some Handsome Hunter to contrast with the white.
I'm having fun so far. It's nice to be challenged, it helps the creative process.

Bridal Shower card day two!
So I made a card for my friend for the bridal shower she was attending. A couple of days later another friend asked me to make her a card for the same bridal shower! So I whipped up another one using the same colours as the previous one! It's a pretty simple card, but I like the way it turned out. Chow for now, Jacqui

Bridal Shower cards
I was asked to make a card for bridal shower. The colours of her wedding are green and black, this is the card I came up with.
The girl who is giving it to her liked it, so hopefully the bride will like it as well.
I am so proud of our Olympic athletes. They are doing so well. It is great to see how well they are all doing.
There have been some very cool commercials leading up to and being played during the Olympics. I think this one is one of my favourites. Not only does it show how beautiful British Columbia is, it also shows some very cool celebrities who are Canadian!!!
So here is a little treat for my sister who now lives in the United States, I'm sure she won't see this commercial in Arizona...and it has one of her favourite people on it!!! Enjoy!

Surprise, surprise.....
My Mum is awesome at giving surprises. Last spring, she asked me to go with her on a bus trip to see Canada Blooms, a flower and gardening convention in Toronto. I went to the pick up site and to my surprise, there was my little sister Courtney, and my Mum's best friend Nancy! They were coming to the convention with us! Then last year, she took Joel and I to see Dirty Dancing, and as we were standing in line at the restaurant, my little sister and her boyfriend Jay came walking in and stood behind us! I didn't even notice them until Joel poked me and was like....umm....Mom....!! So a while back she called and asked me to go on a bus trip with her. Of course I said yes...I love hanging out with my Mum and going on a bus trip is an added bonus! She did not tell me where we were going. I wouldn't find out until we got on the bus and the escort mentioned where we were going. So I got on the bus and just as we were pulling away from the parking spot, Monica the escort said "we will go to our other two pick up spots and then we are off to Yorkdale Mall and then on to see the Jersey Boys!!!! Oh my gosh - every time I see the commercial for Jersey Boys on tv, I say, I wanna see that! So we picked up the rest of our people and then we were off to Toronto. I have never been to Yorkdale Mall, although I have driven by it numerous times and have always said...oh I would like to go in there and eat at the Rainforest Cafe. Well guess what....that is where Mum planned on taking me for lunch! What a cool place it is. There is a snake all coiled around a branch on the outside and his head and tail move, there is a crocodile in a swamp just outside the door that opens his mouth and snaps, there are elephants that trumpet every 15 minutes, there are gorillas that stand up and pound their chests, there was a thunder and lightning storm and this humongous aquarium that held cool looking fish. One fish was so big we were not sure if it was real or not! So we had a yummy lunch and then got back on the bus to head to the theatre. We had very good seats. The music was awesome and all of the actors and actresses were awesome. The fellas that played the main characters had incredible voices. It's hard to believe they would not lose their voice by the end of the production. I would recommend it to anyone. There is a bit of profanity in the show, but nothing more than you would see after 9 o'clock on the television. I had an awesome time with my Mum. Then I had a sleep over and went to visit my Granny in the nursing home. She is doing so well I am so happy about that. She looks awesome. We just found out they are going to be upgrading the nursing home that she stays at....we are not 100% sure what that all will entail. It's exciting that they will be getting upgrades, I'm just curious how they will handle it all with the residents that are there. If it's an addition, then I would assume they would build the new part and then move the residents in....but if it is a renovation...how are they going to work around the residents?? I guess time will tell. I am, however, looking forward to seeing how they improve it. Anyhow, enough blabbing for now....I have much to do! Chow for now, Jacqui

Go Canada!
Posted later, cause the link I had didn't work......
Well the Olympics start today! I have been enjoying all of the commercials leading up to the Olympics and I love the song by Nikki Yanofsky.
I hope Canada does well this year. I kind of had a "card" Olympics this past week. I have started to get some requests from people to make cards for them. It's actually fun, cause it gets me thinking and gets my creative juices flowing again. I was asked to make a card for a 16 year old's birthday. This is the card I made for her. It's a tweak from one I made for my daughters birthday. Chow for now, Jacqui

Procrastination.....
I am such a procrastinator. I don't know why I do this to myself. I have an event this weekend that I have to get organized for, where I have to design make and takes for the attendees to make. No problem.....lots of time.....but then....I got asked to make some personalized cards for a girl at work, a name frame for another girl at work and then this afternoon my boss asked me to make a Valentine's Day card for him! I always worry when I make cards for other people that they won't like them when I give them to them, but so far I have been lucky...or maybe they are just saying they like them so I won't feel bad!!!!
Here is the name frame I made for a friend of mine at work. Her daughter's teacher had a baby and they asked if I would make a name frame for them. The paper is by Imaginesce. They were pleased with the way it turned out. I apologize for the quality of this picture...it didn't come out as rich in colour as I would have liked - I would take another one.....but it's already been given away! Chow for now Jacqui

If you've ever needed a reason.....
If you've ever needed a reason to stamp a card, this might be the reason you are looking for!!!
Always keep several get well cards on the mantle... So if unexpected guests arrive, They will think you've been sick and unable to clean
Isn't that the best piece of advice ever!!!! Here is the last installment of my calendars!! I like the way this one turned out. Probably because Boris is so cute opening his Christmas present! Mum's December picture is a picture of the three of us (Mum, Dad and me!) Courtney's December picture is one that was taken at the first family Christmas I held at our house! I think they were saying "thanks for supper!"
