Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Challenge #49

This week over at the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Blog our challenge was to create an easel card. Believe it or not, I had not made one of these cards yet!
It was pretty easy to do actually. I used some Christmas paper I picked up at the Scrapping Bug in Kitchener. Some glitter was added using Stickles. I really need to get me some more Stickle colours!!! They are fun.

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Challenge #48

This week over at the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Challenge blog, we were challenged to create a card using a specific sketch. Here is a picture of the sketch. I have a stack of Christmas paper that I have not used very much, so I thought I would break it out for this challenge. The base of the card is Chocolate Chip card stock from Stampin' Up! The next layer is Very Vanilla card stock from Stampin' Up! I ran it through the Big Shot with the Snowflake Cuttlebug embossing folder. The next layer is a piece of the designer paper from the stack I have. I used tiny pieces of paper to thread through the holes in the buttons (so the buttons weren't naked!!) The next layer is Creamy Caramel card stock from Stampin' Up! I stamped the Christmas flowers using black Memento ink and then coloured the image using the Copics. Some stickles were applied to the center of the flowers to add some glitter! The edges were "antiqued" using Creamy Caramel ink. I cut the oval out using my Coluzzle. If you haven't had a chance to do some of the challenges from this blog, you really should give it a shot. It's lots of fun! Chow for now, Jacqui

Victopia or Bust!!!!

I am off with my friends to my BFF's place in Kingston!!! It seems like forever since I have had a chance to hang out with my friends and stamp and laugh and enjoy each others company. We leave at 9:30 or so - start on a road trip - and stop at some stamping stores along the way - and then hang with Vicki in Kingston!
I'll post some pics when we get back home!

Wedding Gift Tags

A while ago I posted my first draft of a wedding gift favour for a friend at work. We were talking about wedding favours and I was trying to explain what I was talking about, so I figured it was just easier to make one to show her. So I whipped one up, took it to work and she loved it. I just had to make it a bit smaller cause it was larger than the width of the gift it was going on. So I tweaked it a bit and this is what I came up with.
I had to make 175 of them, so I had a bit of an assembly line going to get them all done! I managed to get them all done this past weekend though.

Black, Pink and White Wedding

I was asked to make another card for a friend for a wedding. She loves the stamp with the flowers in the dress, so I used it to make the card for her.
The card is pretty simple and the picture does not show all the textures and glitter, but it's there!

Today would have been my Poppa's birthday. I'm thinking about you. Love you Poppa.

Busy Weekend

Well we had a busy weekend. We headed up to the new place to do some work. We wanted to strip the wallpaper from the kitchen and do some painting. There is not a lot of work to do...but enough. We managed to get the bathroom ceiling painted, which made it look really good. We also got all the wallpaper stripped from the kitchen and the kitchen ceiling painted. I could not believe how it brightened up the room. We got it all taped as well, ready for our next trip up - to get some more painting done. We also got all the nail holes and little wall blemishes spackled - ready for painting. Joel was a big help. It's nice that he is old enough to help. I hope it makes it more fun for him that he can help as well. Chow for now, Jacqui

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Challenge #47

Another week and another challenge over at the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Challenge Blog of die cuts - more alphabets than anything, so I kept it simple and used a big circle !!!! This week, the challenge is to use Die Cuts when you create your card. I don't have alotSissix die and the scalloped circle die as well. I went with a 6 X 6 sized card again this week. I like the extra room to add stuff. The base of the card is Close to Cocoa card stock from Stampin' Up! I used Garden Green for the scalloped circle, both the big one and the small one. I used Whisper White card stock for the plain circle, both big and small. To create this card, I used the Holiday Sampler stamp set from Stampin' Up!, the gift set from Hanna Stamps and The Best Way stamp set from Close to My Heart. I randomly stamped the pine needles in Garden Green on the white circle and on the Close to Cocoa base. Then stamped the pine cones randomly in Close to Cocoa. I stamped the Christmas bulbs in random colours and then sponged on them with the same colour to give an effect of glowing. I then put Crystal Lacquer on them to make them shine. I then stamped the bear, presents and bags and coloured them with Copics. I cut them out and adhered them to the circle and put one bag and one present in each corner of the card. The sentiment was stamped with Chocolate Chip ink on the small white circle and matted with the Garden Green scalloped circle. It was then attached to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. 60th Soccer birthday

I was asked to make another soccer birthday card. I found some soccer paper I had laying around for who knows when. The paper was quite glossy, so I apologize for the pictures -they were a bit shiny.
The base of the card I used Basic Black card stock. I sponged some Bashful Blue and some Green Galore to add some colour to the stark white sheet behind. I cut out the soccer shoe and put it at the bottom of the card and used the computer to pick a font I liked that looked cool with the number 60.
On the inside of the card, I stamped Happy Birthday in the center of the cut out soccer field. The soccer ball was cut out and popped up using dimensionals.

Happy Birthday Granny!

Today is my Granny's 91st birthday. 91 years can you believe it. We are very thankful to have her with us still; we had a close call a few years ago. Granny has got to be one of the strongest people I know. She has survived a large number of surgeries and has outlived many of her brothers and sisters. We used to live with our Granny and Poppa for quite a bit of our childhood, as our mom was training to be an RNA. We used to go on camping trips with them for the whole summer holidays and every other weekend we would spend with them when school was back in. I have so many great memories of things we did with Granny that I could sit and write about them all day. So I won't bore you with that! I will just share with you a couple of pictures. This picture was taken last summer. Isn't she beautiful (when I say that to her - she just grunts - and then laughs at me!) This picture was also taken last summer and it is my Granny with my Mom, my sister Diana and me! Love ya bunches and bunches Granny! Chow for now Jacqui

Happy Birthday Diana!

Today is my big sister Diana's birthday! Big sister is really an oxymoron cause she sure as heck ain't bigger than me! I guess I should say older than me.....but then that might offend her....and she may be older, but I am way more mature!!!! lol (that's an ongoing joke with the two of us!) It's a good thing she is not here or she would kick my arse! She is the best sister ever. She is always there for me when I need to talk and she will let me know what she thinks whether it's a good thing or not! I love that we can be totally honest with each other and tell each other how we feel and be okay with that. I remember we had some wicked fights when we were younger, but now she lives so far away, I would give anything to have her here to punch me out!!! ha ha - just kidding - I could do without her beating me up, but I do wish she lived closer to me. This first picture is a shot of her and our Granny. It's a great picture of two great women. I love them both so very much. This second shot is a picture of Diana sitting on the steps of the house we grew up in with our Granny and Poppa. When she was home last year we stopped at the house and got our picture taken. It certainly brought up a lot of old, but very good memories. I love you Diana, have a great day. I wish I could be there in Arizona to celebrate your birthday with you......maybe someday. Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Challenge #46

This weeks challenge over at Christmas Stampin' All Year Long was to use the colours Violet, Ivory, White and Gold. Very regal colours indeed.
I decided to go with a 6X6 card this week, as I thought once I had my tree stamped, embossed, and then matted with the violet, it was a bit too big to go on a standard sized card.
The base of the card is Ivory. I used me flexible ruler to get the curved slope to the gold and violet paper. I used a border punch to punch out the gold strip across the width of the card. The tree from the Snow Swirled Stampin' Up! stamp set was stamped in gold craft ink and embossed with gold embossing powder. I then cut the oval out using my coluzzle and then used the coluzzle to cut a violet piece to mat with. I stamped the sentiment with violet right on the ivory base. I then used my gold glitter pen to add some dots around the oval and some faux stitching along the violet curved edge.
My picture does not do it justice, (if I do say so myself!) but I was pleased with the way it turned out.
I am loving this challenge blog, it is so much fun to get a different challenge each week. Everyone is able to participate, so if you haven't yet........you really should try!
If you do the challenge, make sure you link to the blog, if the design team likes your card the best, you get to be the guest designer for the next week! How fun does that sound?
So give it a go, see what you can come up with...challenge yourself!!

Happy Birthday Jade

I had a killer headache when I got home from work yesterday, so I just took a nap to see if it would go away, and had no luck what-so-ever, so I didn't get a nice picture of Jade to put up on here for everyone to see how beautiful she is. It's hard to believe she is 16 already. Even though I give her a hard time...pretty much all the time...she is a good kid. She has a job, she tries hard at school, she has a good heart, and I love her to pieces! I hope she has a super day today! Here is a picture of her with her good friends Dylan and Jaimie....Jade is the one in the middle. I love ya pumpkin!

60th birthday card

I was asked to make a birthday card for a 60th birthday. The fellow is Italian, and likes World Cup soccer as well as gardening. So this is the card I came up with. I made a 6 X 6 card, using Whisper White card stock. I then took a strip of Glorious Green, Whisper White and Real Red card stock to make the Italian flag. I then stamped soccer balls over the entire flag. I stamped the letters happy birthday using the letters from Molly Stamps. I used the computer to generate the funky 60 and cut them out from Whisper White card stock. I popped them up on the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. To add the gardening end of things...I decided to do that on the inside of the card. I used the stamp set Scene in a Garden, and stamped the images then coloured them with Copics. I then cut them out and adhered them to the inside of the card. I popped the vase of flowers and the flower pots using Stampin' Dimensionals. I hope the fella like his card! Chow for now Jacqui

Spring has sprung??

I hope spring has sprung. I think this past weekend has been the warmest Easter weekend we have had in a long time. We have had the odd day here and there that was warm, but I think this was the first time that the whole entire weekend was a nice one. Even on Saturday when the wind picked up and it rained a bit, it produced a beautiful rainbow, so it was still nice. With spring comes new growth and fresh starts. We, as a family, are getting a fresh start this spring too. We have decided to move out of the city and get a place in the country! We are all excited about the change and looking forward to some changes in our lives. I found this picture and thought it was a nice little tribute to spring! Chow for now Jacqui

Hedley in London!!

My daughter got tickets to go and see Hedley for Christmas...and her birthday. She got the tickets at Christmas...but the show was not until yesterday and her birthday is on Thursday, so we covered both!!! The show started at 6:30 and was not over until 11:00. They definitely got their moneys worth, that's for sure. Jade could hardly talk when she got back in the car, from screaming so much during the concert. I remember when Jacob was on Canadian Idol. I loved his performances then and am very happy that he has achieved success. Chow for now, Jacqui

Wedding Gift Tags

I've mentioned on here before that a friend of mine at work, Anna's daughter is getting married. Their colours are Olive Green, Black and White. I have made a few shower cards for various people who were attending her daughters shower and I have been asked to make some for their wedding as well. The wedding is not until May, so those will get posted later, but today, I am posting a gift tag I made for them.
Anna asked me if I had any ideas for what they could put on the gifts they are giving to the people who attend the wedding. I saw on the Stampers Showcase (by Debbie Henderson) a card made using the heart punch as the dress and the tux for the bride and groom. I thought I would case that idea and see what I could come up with. It's pretty much a straight case, just different colours.
I whipped it up and showed it to Anna and they liked it, so now they have asked me to make the tags for the wedding gifts!

They will be tweaked a bit, cause these are a bit too big for the gift, but this was the first shot at making them.
