Rookie Blue

So for a while, my mom has been asking me if I watch Rookie Blue. I had heard of it before, but I had never watched it. I started watching Saving Hope which is a Canadian show, set in Canada with almost 100% Canadian Actors which is AWESOME. Rookie Blue is also a Canadian show, with the majority of the actors being Canadian as well. The show is set in Toronto, which is really quite cool, cause when they pan the city, you can see the CN Tower and other familiar sites.
So I started watching it. It is now in its 3rd season...and I think I watched like 2 seasons in a matter of 8 days. It is sooooooo good. I love the story lines and the characters are awesome as well.
The premise of the show is about 5 Rookie Cops who are just out of the academy and start to work. They all have their own individual little side stories and history and then the veteran cops who help train them, all have their own individual side stories and history too.
The chemistry between each and every character is very good. Each person has a different relationship with the other. I really enjoy the show.
Andy McNally - who is played by Canadian Missy Peregrym is one of the rookies.
I guess you could call her the lead actress, but all the characters pretty much have equal screen time. This is Jade's favourite. She liked her in the movie Stick It, as well which was about gymnastics.
Dov Epstein - who is played by Gregory Smith is also a rookie.
I like his boyish look and how he always tries to be so tough and macho.
Traci Nash - is played by Enuka Okuma and she too is a rookie.
She was also in Sue Thomas F.B.I, which was a Canadian crime show as well. I like Traci's character. A single mom, trying to juggle work, kids and a romance.
Chris Diaz - is played by Travis Milne, also a rookie.
He is a sweet young man, who looks macho, but is not all tough and cocky.
Gail Peck - is played by Charlotte Sullivan, also a rookie.
To be honest, I cannot stand this character. Mom said she would grow on me...but I'm into season three now and I still want to punch her in the face.
Oliver Shaw - played by Matt Gordon. He is a veteran cop.
I really like Oliver. He tries to be a hard ass when it comes to the rookies, but he is going through alot of personal issues with his wife and kids and he lets his soft side show every once in a while. The part of his character where he is always eating makes me laugh.
Noelle Williams - played by Melanie Nichols King, is a veteran.
Her character is a 38 year old single woman trying to have a baby. I like her character as well. She IS a hard ass. But some of the rookies have got under her skin and she's a softie down deep.
Jerry Barber - played by Noam Jenkins is a detective.
He is dating Traci Nash.
Luke Callaghan - played by Eric Johnson is a homicide detective.
He was dating Andy McNally and they were set to get married and then he slept with his old partner....not good for the impending marriage. He's a cutie though!
Sam Swarek - played by Ben Bass - he's a veteran cop, and of all this list, the only American!
He is though, my favourite character on the show. Very sexy and he's got great teeth and a great smile, and he just can't get enough of Andy McNally!

this guy is new. He just came back from a tour in Afghanistan. It's a really great show, and if you haven't watched it. You should.......Canadian television has come leaps and bounds.....

Moving day.....

Well yesterday was the day that we moved Jade into college! She will be attending St. Clair College in Windsor!! I am so very proud of her. She overcame a number of obstacles throughout her high school career...and for those people who say "high school are the best years of your life".....totally NOT true in Jade's case! However we are moving on to bigger and better things! We had planned to leave our place by 7 AM and get to the campus shortly after 9 AM, but then Jade got a Facebook message from the Residence crew and they preferred people come after 11 AM. So..we decided to leave a little later, which was okay, cause well...we did sleep in just a little bit!
The morning started off with me being a smart ass telling Jade I have to scrapbook the whole day, so I snapped a couple of pictures of her SCREAMING NOT TO TAKE NAKED PICTURES OF HER in the shower!!! But I promised not to post them on here or on Facebook! But I did get a couple - not naked...but she was in the bathroom - post shower! Then we sat down to have breakfast together and the phone rang. It was Joe!! He wondered if we minded if he came with us if his boss thought he could do without him for the day. So a little while later, he came driving in the lane way! That was nice, cause he did all the heavy lifting and lugging of all Jade's stuff into the college when we got there.
We had to jimmy things around a bit, cause we had taken all the seats out of the van before we packed it up, and then when Joe decided to come, we had to do some re-arranging! But it was all good, we got it packed and headed on down the road. We left the house about 9 AM I guess, it was by the time we got away. We got to the campus at 11:04 AM!!!! We went in with Jade to get all her paperwork, her room keys, her mail key, her laundry key, and any other information she needed to get. Then we went on up to the second floor of the residence! She is sharing a room with a girl from Ingersoll, who she has already met, so that is nice that she knows someone already. As we were standing at the counter downstairs another girl she met from Woodstock came up to say hi, so it was nice for her to see another familiar face. Jade and I stayed in the room and went through the check list to make sure everything was "up to snuff". There was a welcome package on her bed, which was a pillow case. Inside the pillow case was a piggy bank for her "pub fund" (I put in $2 before I left!!) There was a dry erase calendar to hang on the wall, a bandana for her floor colour, a dog tag, a coupon for Shopper's Drug Mart, a coupon for the pub, I think that's it. There were spoons on her table with her name and someone else's name. She has to find that other person to get a chance to win some prizes and her dog tag has the word "Ford" on the back and she has to find similar items to have a chance to win some prizes! Then Joe started bringing stuff up. He got a trolley from downstairs and started - I think it was 3 trolley-fulls!!!
The rooms are pretty decent for a college residence. When you walk in there is a kitchen area/common area,
then a nice sized bathroom and each girl has their own bedroom space, complete with double bed, desk, TV and telephone. Here is Joe putting the hooks on Jade's full length mirror that hangs on the back of her bedroom door! Each girls bedrooms lock as well as the main door into the room. Here she is organizing her kitchen space! That's her little cube thing she got - the dark spots are actually canvas boxes that pull out to store stuff. She ended up getting a few more things than what she needed, so we brought those home, but we made a trip to the dollar store to get a few "forgotten" items and I think she is gonna be fine. When we left she was organizing her desk and getting ready to relax a bit before heading down to the building meeting.
I gave Jade my little "Love Monkey" that Joe gave me for Valentines Day once and told her she could put it on her bed...and then before I left I told her that I expected her to take him everywhere with her and I wanted to see pictures of Love Monkey doing all the exciting things!!! Kind of like those Flat Stanley things! She sent me a picture to my BB just before I went to bed of Love Monkey sitting beside her supper!!
Here is her bed all made up with her new fancy bedding and her body pillow and 4 other pillows!!
We put her posters on the wall. This one Joel helped her pick out, and these 4 hopefully will help her with her studies! She got a bunch of her clothes hung up, but I have to take some more hangers when I go back to visit on Friday. All in all it was a good day. No tears were shed....although after we were driving home for a bit and I asked Joe if she was gonna be okay there...I started to tear up a bit, but he assured me she is gonna be fine. I'm sure she is, but it's a big step, and I'm gonna miss her like crazy. I got her some flowers for her vase!

On the Road again......

......well the weight loss road that is. Once again....I know, I know... I am on the weight loss road again. It is so hard to get into the right head space to lose weight. Once I am in that place, I am good to go...but getting to that point is painful. Anyhow, I am there now. I started last week, so this is technically the first day of week 2 for me and I am proud to say that I lost 10 pounds this week. That might sound awesome, which I guess it is...but I'm sure it is because I didn't hit Tim Horton's once last week....unlike previous weeks were a large hot chocolate and bagel were my morning ritual. Now, I eat my breakfast at home, around 4:30AM and then I snack at 8:00 AM, then lunch is at 11:00AM and then another snack just before 2:00PM when I head home from work and then supper is around 5'ish or so, and then I do not eat anything else after that. All I drink is water - I think that before when I would start to diet, I got a really bad headache day 2 and 3. I always thought it was sugar withdrawal, but I think it might be a combination of sugar withdrawal and aspartame withdrawal. There is so much of that crap in diet pop and "diet" conscious food it's awful. And it's totally NOT good for you, so I am trying to eat clean. Stay away from the processed stuff, eat "real" foods - raw veggies things like that. Trying to stick with the idea if God didn't make it....then don't eat it. The exercising piece of the weight loss is always a struggle for me. I want to walk, but the last time I did I ended up in Emerg with a foot swollen the size of a basketball. So I am leery - which is probably just a stupid excuse, and if I take it easy, I should be okay. A girl at work has offered to help me set some small goals for myself. I have never been good at setting goals. I need to work on that.

I had a great weekend though!!! Saturday was my beautiful mother's 65th birthday!
She invited Jade and I out for lunch at Aunt Gussies in Grand Bend and then we went back to Huron Country Playhouse to see the production of Annie. Lunch was delicious! I tried to make a good choice and I got a Philly Roast Beef wrap with a Greek Salad (instead of fries). Then we went to see the show. It was soooooo good. The smallest little orphan girl was adorable and off course she had all the cute and funny lines in the play. The girl who played Annie had an incredible voice and did a very good job. We were wishing that her hair or wig had of been a bit more fly away. The characters did a great job, but let's face it....no one can play Ms. Hannigan like Carol Burnett! It was a fun day getting to spend it with my mom!

Sunday, was Joe's birthday! I got up early (well not too early!) and made him bacon, scrambled eggs and pancakes with Fort Rose Maple Syrup! I had to make sure things were pretty soft, as Joe got all his teeth except for 2 removed last week. He is on the road to getting dentures! I can't wait! He has been having so many problems with his teeth and feeling crappy and I'm sure it's because of his teeth, so I am looking forward to some bright new shiny chompers and him feeling better! Then we headed back to the Grand Bend Flea Market, where Joel bought his dad a new belt with a FORD belt buckle. Jade got some summer sausage to take to college with her (not sure the roommate is gonna love the smell of that hanging in the kitchen!!!). We saw a few people we knew...lots of people we didn't, and generally had a good time. Then we went and got some groceries and got some food for Jade for college as well.

All in all, a good weekend!
