This weeks challenge over at
Christmas Stampin' All Year Long was to use the colours Violet, Ivory, White and Gold. Very regal colours indeed.
I decided to go with a 6X6 card this week, as I thought once I had my tree stamped, embossed, and then matted with the violet, it was a bit too big to go on a standard sized card.
The base of the card is Ivory. I used me flexible ruler to get the curved slope to the gold and violet paper. I used a border punch to punch out the gold strip across the width of the card. The tree from the Snow Swirled Stampin' Up! stamp set was stamped in gold craft ink and embossed with gold embossing powder.
I then cut the oval out using my coluzzle and then used the coluzzle to cut a violet piece to mat with. I stamped the sentiment with violet right on the ivory base. I then used my gold glitter pen to add some dots around the oval and some faux stitching along the violet curved edge.
My picture does not do it justice, (if I do say so myself!) but I was pleased with the way it turned out.
I am loving this challenge blog, it is so much fun to get a different challenge each week. Everyone is able to participate, so if you haven't yet........you really should try!
If you do the challenge, make sure you link to the blog, if the design team likes your card the best, you get to be the guest designer for the next week! How fun does that sound?
So give it a go, see what you can come up with...challenge yourself!!
Chow for now,
