The Written Word is Very Powerful

How true is that statement? Just think how many times something that you have written has touched the life of another human being. A simple card that just says “Thank-you” can mean more than you know to the person who you give it to. Or what about the two words, “I’m sorry”. They can provide comfort to someone who has just lost a loved one, or can ease someone’s anger for something you may have done wrong. And then there are those three little words, “I love you”. How very powerful those 3 little words are.

We went to see the movie Inkheart today. Our local movie theatre had Twoonie movies all week! They played Twilight, Hotel for Dogs, Marley and Me and Inkheart every day.
Inkheart was playing at 3:20 pm today, and I was home from work by then so we went to see the movie. It was awesome. It definitely showed how powerful the written word can be.
I have liked Brendan Fraser ever since he was in Encino Man with Pauly Shore – “munchin’ on some grindage”! He made me laugh George of the Jungle. His character was quite a bit more mature in the Mummy movies, even though his sense of humour was still part of his character. I enjoyed him as an action hero in Journey to the Center of the Earth as well. I know that they are playing characters in a movie, but actors seem to get into it more when they play a father figure in the movie.
I loved this movie. The special effects were great. The Helen Mirren played Aunt Eleanor and she made me chuckle. Paul Bettany is a great actor. I have liked him ever since he played in “A Knight’s Tale” with Heath Ledger. He was the “announcer” and he had a bad gambling problem and always was losing the shirt of his back – literally! Andy Serkis was a great villain – he is such a chameleon. He looks so dramatically different in each character that he plays….take Gollum from Lord of the Rings for example….. and then King Kong…little bit of a difference there!! And he played Capricorn in this film. I am a Capricorn, but I hope I never get as nasty as him (or have teeth as bad!)
It really was a good film, and it will definitely be one that I will be adding to my DVD Collection.
So today’s card is a tiny little tribute to Brendan Fraser – from his George of the Jungle days!

The base of the card is Basic Black card stock, I layered on a piece of Jillybean Soup designer paper. I stamped the monkey and the foliage and bananas on Georgia Pacific paper and coloured them with the Copics. Some of the leaves are popped up to add dimension. I stamped “Thanks a bunch” on white card stock and sponged it with Green Galore ink. I then punched it out with the new oval punch from Stampin’ Up! You can see from these pictures some of the texture.
I’m pleased with the way the card turned out. Hope you enjoy looking at it, as much as I enjoyed making it…even though it took me long enough!
