Labor of Love!!

As you know from a previous post, Jade's 21st birthday was on Wednesday. We were not able to be with her on the actual date of her birthday, since she lives and works in Windsor, but we went up on the Monday and went out for lunch and gave the gift we got for her that day instead.
We were looking back over various birthday cards I have made for her through the years and to my horror....I used the same image on like 3 years worth of cards!! They were all different cards, but the same image. I was mortified, Jade just laughed!! So I was determined to make her a kick ass card this year, not only because I had used the same image multiple years, but because it was her 21st birthday, and, well, that is a milestone.
I was, of course, browsing through Pinterest for some inspiration or kick start to my mojo! I came across this beautiful card made by Heartfelt Creations. I don't have all the stamps and the die cuts they used to make this card, but I thought I might be able to improvise and come up with something similar (or hopefully not a disaster!)

I started by using my Cricut to cut out multiple frames which I put together with dimensionals. I used the Cricut to cut a solid frame for the back ground and adhered it to the back of the layered frames.

Then I used my Cricut to cut out multiple branches.

Many many flowers were cut out with the Cricut.

And some swirlies too!

Then, using Copic markers and my flower making kit, I colored and molded the flowers and glued them together to make them look real.

I also colored the branches and the swirlies with Copics too.

I then colored and cut out two identical images. I cut out identical images so I could layer them on top of each other for depth.
I needed more flowers as I got going! So Cricut to the rescue again!

Then I started layering the branches and the flowers onto the raised frame.

I also used a Butterfly die cut and a sizzlit to cut some more butterflies to place randomly on the flowers.

I layered the image in the centre of the card and added glitter to the butterfly. I put Crystal Effects and Stickles on some of the flowers and the butterflies.

Here is a close up of the layers in the card.

Another close up with the butterflies showing

And one more semi-close up to show the layers.

And the final product. I was quite pleased with the result. Not sure if it's as nice as the card I got the inspiration from, but I was happy with how it turned out.
And Jade liked it, so that's the main thing!
(And, my son Joel even took a picture of it with his cell phone! I think that might be the sign of a good job if he'll take a picture of it and have it on his phone!)

Hope you enjoyed my little card story.
Chow for now,
Jacqui
