A Little Light on the Bling.......

Well another challenge has come and gone. The challenge this time was to create a birthday card with bling. Well.....I thought I had more bling than I did, but when I got looking, I don't have that much Stampin' Up! bling! I have lots of bling from other companies, but I'm a little light on the
Stampin' Up! blingage!! I hope the recipient of this card thinks this is good enough.
I used Night of Navy cardstock and stamped with versamark. Then I applied copper embossing powder. It looks pretty shiny....I hope that's classifed as bling! Then I put a strip of Night of Navy and a strip of copper from one edge to the next. I coloured the little rocket ship with the Stampin' Write markers and then added a rhinestone brad to the centre of the space ship. There is glitter on all the stars and swirlies around the spaceship.I added the Birthday Wishes sentiment with Jet Black Stazon.
I spent the day today tidying up and cleaning. YUCK. I hate cleaning, but then I love the look when I am done. Everything neat and tidy and in its place! I am very much looking forward to some warm weather so I can crank these windows open and get some nice spring air flowing through the house.
It's my baby sister's birthday today. I'm feeling totally old thinking back to some of the games we used to play when she was a toddler; putting finger paint on our faces instead of on the paper, dressing up with all kinds of crazy things like swimming goggles, slippers etc. and then removing one thing and having her guess what was gone. She has grown in a wonderful young woman and I am very proud of her. I am blessed to have her in my life and not only call her my sister, but also my friend. Love ya, Courtney!
Well, that's all for tonight.

Well here it is. If you read my earlier post, I still needed to design a scrapbook page for the class I have on the 1st of April. I'll admit it, designing scrapbook pages is not as easy task for me. I love to do it, but I always see other pages that people have done and mine always seem so blah. I get inspired by scrapping with Vicki Garrett (which will be happening in 26 more sleeps!!). So anyway, this is what I came up with. I wanted to make something with a coloured 12 X 12 sheet instead of working on white (my supply of 12 X 12 cardstock usually dictates what projects I make!). So I picked Blue Bayou as my base colour. I managed to get 5 or 6 packages of rub-ons from Sale-a-bration so I thought I would use some of those as well.So I put the funky little curly flowery thing in the top corner. Then I cut a strip of Blue Bayou designer paper and put it across the bottom with a strip of blue ribbon across that seam. Then I used the friend rub-on just above that and put a smaller flower in the center of the strip of Blue Bayou designer paper. Using my Coluzzle I cut out the ovals from Bashful Blue and Blue Bayou cardstock and layered them and put them on the page. Simple, but I like the look.
Now the story of the cute little kitty in the pictures!!! My son Joel has a best friend named Dylan. I swear to God the two of them must have been separated at birth. They refer to themselves as "brothers from another mother". They are like two peas in a pod; skinny like a twig and hooked on video games and they "get" each others wacked out sense of humor. Anyhow, Dylan got a new little kitty a week before he was to participate in a weekend hockey tournament. Not wanting to leave the little cutie at home alone with their older grumpy cat, they asked if we would watch her for the weekend. We have 2 cats of our own, so we did a trial run, as we did not want our cats to hurt the poor little stinker. The trial run went pretty good. Our male cat Patch thought Smoky was pretty cool, our female Shadow on the other hand, was NOT impressed. She didn't do anything to her except make some funky cat noises! So it was all set - we could watch the kitty. So Dylan brought her over on a Thursday evening and she stayed with us until the Sunday.Smoky slept on my pillow the whole time she was here! She is just so cute. She slept alot so we took advantage of that and snapped up a bunch of pictures! So anyway - that' s the Smoky story!!

Black, White and Pink Passion

I created this card for a card challenge. The challenge was to create a card using black and white and one other colour.
I saw a card somewhere using black and white and pink passion and decided those would be my colours for this card challenge. I was pleased with the way the card turned out - even though my "embrace life" sentiment is a little crooked - I hate when I stamp crooked; but it was an after thought to stamp it on the white strip and the white strip was already glued down.
My exacto knife was my good friend on the creation of this card! Cutting out all those little leaves.
I love to cut things out though so it's all good!
The flowers were stamped on vellum with versamark and then embossed with black embossing powder. I then coloured them with the pink passion stampin' write marker from the back. I put 3 or 4 layers of colour on the back of the flowers trying to get different depths of colour. I think I need a bit more practice on that, but all in all, I think it turned out okay. Hope you like it as well.

Silent Auction Class

In February, I participated in a fundraiser at one of the local schools. I donated a package for a silent auction item. Part of the package was a coupon for the winning bidder for her and 4 of her friends to attend a class for free! I put an expiry date on the coupon of June 30, 2008, thinking that I wanted to get the classes done before the new catalogue frenzy!!
The winning bidder contacted me a few weeks ago and the class is scheduled to go on April 1st.
Each person will be making 3 items. A card, a scrapbook page and a 3-D item.
I have the 3-D item designed as well as the card, but I am struggling a little bit with the scrapbook page.
My inspiration for my scrapbook pages usually comes from scrappin' with my bestest friend Vicki, but I am not getting together with her until the end of April. So..........I must face this challenge on my own!!!
I'm still working on it, but I do have the card and the 3-D item prepared.
Here are some pictures of the items

My First Blog Post

Well, here goes nothing!!! A few people have told me that I should really start a blog. I'm not sure if that's cause they want me to stop emailing them or if they really think I can do this "thang"!
My main focus will be stamping and scrapbooking related, but for those who know me...I have a very eclectic amount of interests, so there could be anything posted from scrappin' to stampin' to country music to what books you are reading! Who knows!!
I hope this blog will be useful to someone out there in cyberworld and if not, at least I can pretend!!!!
I might even put up a few challenges for you stamping/scrapping people!!!

Hope your Easter holiday was safe and you were able to spend some quality time with your families.
